ERIC ZACCAR

Screenwriter, playwright and lyricist Eric Zaccar was literally drafted into the middle of the headline news story that he turned into the screenplay, and the upcoming feature film, WITHOUT HATE.

For the stage, Eric wrote the book and lyrics for the mini-rock opera, THE OEDIPUS COMPLEX, that was optioned by Joseph Papp.  His social satire, STARR’S ON BROADWAY was produced off-Broadway in 1999, and has been the subject of quite a bit of rather interesting press. Off-Broadway plays or musicals are performed in New York City. His plays, HOUSING, THE ASSASSINATION THAT SAVED JOHN’S PIZZERIA, and I’LL SEE YOU IN HELL have all been produced in New York City.

Eric’s original screenplay, THE ONLY TRACE was optioned by an independent producer.  He was commissioned to adapt the screenplays INDIAN SUPERSTAR and ON THE OTHER SIDE, from pre-existing works. His other original screenplays include JULIAN’S QUEST and LUCIFER’S ELITE.

As a lyricist, Eric has worked with numerous local bands, composers and musicians. Four of his 9-11 related songs, that were performed at benefits and memorials at the time, will be part of EMPTY SKYLINE, a compilation CD that he is co-producing, to benefit the Art For Healing Foundation.

Though this is Eric's first venture as a feature film producer, he has co-produced several stage plays, numerous music recordings and a couple of large scale benefits.  He's been a recurring featured guest on numerous radio programs including Howard Stern, Joe Franklin and Joey Reynolds.   Eric is a graduate of NYU Tisch Dramatic Writing, and a member of the WGA, the Dramatist Guild and ASCAP.
